Has anyone been able to have multiple forums using the same database? Going forward, I'm going to want to have all four to six forums that I'm planning on setting up to share users and all of their information (login info, avatars, possibly sigs, etc).

    I found this mod....

Share users database among many forums - vBulletin.org Forum

I know nothing about the server/mysql/tables stuff and I'm going to need some help in the near future with getting this to work.

    Anyone have experience with this?

Download all your files containing the software, with your FTP client.
Then download your Database, after upload all files to your new forum,
then import the Database through phpmyadmin.

Not sure if its that, but maybe thats moving hosts?

FYI Also make sure you read the licensing agreement about having the licenses.

Just to confirm....I can basically have multiple forums using the same database, correct?

Simply use the database name/password that I've setup for forum "A" in the config file for forum "B" and "C"?

Obviously I'd have to have separate licenses for each vB install, but I want to make sure that this is doable.

Edit: Found another mod that could help with this process.... http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=118473

So, how do you share avatars/sigs/etc? Would each site have its own or would it be a shared deal?

Well a few ways, but if you have your avatars/sigs/etc in the file system, than you just call to those images on both installs.
it's not as easy as just adding the path, but that's the general idea

Brandon, is there a detailed 'how-to' guide out there?

I'm hoping that it's not too complicated. :)

It's doable, just depends on how good you at editing the database
I don't have a link, but here is a thread about it, so you get an idea of how complicated it would be.
Multiple Vbulletin Forums (different domains) Using One Single User Database? - vBulletin Community Forum
I know it's possible, that's what Crowdgather - Find it on Forums is doing with 100's of forums.. All sharing the user table

Yup, basically want at least four forums all using the same login for each person. I'd want all four forums to be separate in regards to the features aside from certain things I'd like to share like avatars and such.

So, I might have to go looking for a "pro" to help me with something like this since I know nothing about editing the database.

Extremely interesting link to Crowd Gather Brandon, thank you.

I'm beginning to understand things a bit better now. They are in southern CA, just like IB.
