I've got an issue. A certain group of people are not supposed to be sending PMs to each other about certain subjects.

For example, since we all have hosting accounts, hosting providers PMing people looking for hosting account suggestions on webhostingtalk.com. Lets assume WHT does not want that to happen.

    • I do not want to read the PMs because that is not something I would do.
    • I do not want to inhibit people from using the PM system for other things e.g. tiny PM box.
    • I had a wild idea about charging them $1/PM but that is really not want I want either.

Currently people are getting the notification emails with the full PM message in them, and about 1% of the time people reply to the notification emails and I get those. Sort of a 'spot check' and I can (correctly) tell people that that is the way the software works.

So - any weird PM mods/hacks over on vborg? I'm just looking for a place to get ideas and thought maybe some of those mods could inspire me even if they do not contain a solution.

    ?

The only thing I can think of would be to create your own PM check before their sent that would include a query looking for LIKE 'webhosting' or something like that.

Actually, that would only work if it were already in the DB, wouldn't it?

What about putting regex checks looking for 'webhosting', 'hosting', etc...?

Someone should be able to write a plugin that would accomplish this, no?

    Good thought good thought.

I did not consider an automated scan for keywords.

    keep the ideas coming.

I can get something like that implemented.
