Following my ban from vbulletin.com. vB have now disabled my access to vbulletin.org as well...meaning my heavily-modified site no longer has vital access to the modifications on there.

This effectively renders my site useless, despite having just purchased a new license from them.

Has anyone any knowledge of why they do this and what can be done to restore access, or am I now effectively forced off the platform altogether?

Isn't their policy that you are free to create another account on vB.org and get your mods that way?

I am not positive, but I think I've read something like that before. Jacquii (MsJac is her username here) should know. :P

I've tried....but the forum support bit of my account seems to have been disabled. I can add new accounts, but it never updates.

Add another e-mail address to your license (in Members Area) to make it eligible for priority forum support. Use that e-mail address to register an account on vBulletin.org.

    ...See if that works. :)

    Already done that....it doesn't update.

they have disabled it somehow. I saw it happen. I was on vb.org and suddenly it started showing the pink "unlicensed" box.

I'm in real trouble with this....my site will be unable to continue due to this spiteful action by the vb team.

What they've done to you might even be illegal. A portion of what they're selling you is access to the vB.com forums for support, and vB.org for add-ons and mod updates.

Since they are now based in the US, if they don't resolve this you may have a case.

I don't mean to stir things up any more than they are, but to me this seems serious, unwarranted, and illegal.

I have dropped Wayne a PM on here to see if this can be sorted in some way.

I never known instances of someone being banned on one forum and also banned on the sister site. I've been banned/suspended on vb.com before but still had access to vb.org and vice-versa.

Cheek if you ask me considering the content on vb.org isn't there's in the first place. But there you go, such is life etc etc.

I haven't been banned from vb.org, I've had my licensed customer status revoked meaning I can't access any of the modifications.

I have no idea why they have done this or what they hope to achieve by it, but it actually puts my site out of business.

So your showing up as unlicensed?

what was the reason they gave for doing this? and what did you do to force them to take this action?

Just asking these questions because someone may be able to help if this indeed is legal and you wish to bring it further pending you don't get this resolved.

Yes. But if I try to create a new account with a new email, and associate that in the members area, it doesn't take any notice of me. I've left it well over an hour.

I've had emails from other people this has been done to....it looks like they basically block your licensed status somehow within your account, so the system just ignores your updates.

I think that's exactly what he said. Maybe you could try getting mods off third party sites or maybe file sharing sources. It's still really sorry to hear that 'vBulletin Solutions' have now apparently resorted to this kind of rubbish though.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but have you considered just giving it a week or at least a few days before addressing the issue? Maybe the Monday after the presale ends?

That may not work for you, it was just an idea. Things are a little heated at the moment for numerous reasons, not just you.

yeah very heated. You aren't the first to be banned on both sites - and just recently.

From various emails I have been receiving, it seems this isn't the first person they have done this to, and apparently they do not relent. Which leaves me completely stuck, and facing the closure of a site I've spent seven years building up.

That's seriously the totally opposite of how Mark should handle this. He is a customer, and is entitled to inquire at his leisure. It's not his fault that things are heated at the moment (whose fault is that, by the way? ;)), so he shouldn't "step back" because of IB's own problems.

That's not an answer I would be willing to accept. I don't see how they can just do that to you. Stuff like this really frightens me in regards to how things are being handled. Why do they feel the need to go out of their way to completely block you from the system? That's just plain wrong...

Also, doesn't it sometimes take time for the changes made to your account (Priority Forum Support settings) to reflect on vB.org? I would try yet another e-mail address, and wait a day at least.

I had indeed renewed, but no I won't be able to get a refund.

Apparently access to vbulletin.org is not a right under the license, so I have been informed by a third party. they can withdraw it at any time without giving a reason.

Thanks Nick...but I just know what they've done here, because it's happened to others. I was also browsing vb.org when it happened, I changed to unliecnsed yet was still showing licensed in the members area.

They have disabled my access....it's something they've for others who have been banned recently form vb.com. I had no idea they were doing this, and I have no idea why they would do it. They must know it will close people's sites down.

It has left me in very serious trouble. And whatever the merits of my strongly worded criticism, this sort of action is heavy handed and undeserved.
