Another nightmare story of a board owner trying out vB5 and regretting it.

When will IB take vB5 back to beta and stop this misery?

To inject a little humor to his pain
Have you tried Viagra mate? Gets you up fast and can last up to 4 hours.

But yeah with all that hype and misinformation they tell new and old customers we can expect more of the same. Unfortunate and Sad really.

Any large board that even attempts to convert to their production site to vB5 means that their admins did not bother doing any bit of research first. After a while it is hard to be feeling bad for them.

Is there really a reason to do research? You can blame admins for not doing a proper test, but why should anyone do research above and beyond looking at feature parity to upgrade? And even then, the norm dictates an upgrade is a move up to something better. The fact it isn't true with vB5 is the problem. Not any missing research.

Seeing as how vB5 is really a conversion and not a standard upgrade, then, yes, any admin' should spend at least 5 minutes bothering to read the support forums before they jump into it.

And, again, if they spent 5 minutes in the support forums they would have seen the posts about missing features and/or non-working features.

Yes, vB5 is a total disaster but if somebody jumps into that disaster without even bothering to look at what they are jumping into then they need to be held accountable as well.

Has this been posted at vb.com, I'd be interested to hear the excuses from the staff over there.

I can't blame vBulletin for this one...

For each new version of vb5 comes out I try it out on a test server. I would never convert without doing this and having made my style and changes before hand, so that I can minimize downtime when I upgrade.

    I wouldn't upgrade without a test site.

You can't just just say "Hmm I think I am going to upgrade today." Especially when you are a site that big.

HHmm.... I checked my account settings and both here & vB.com I'm set for EST but the post over there shows 10:14am versus the 11:08am post here. Nothing about vB5 should surprise me anymore.

Well, it is Friday and your coffee machine is broken. :P

Time for you to invest in your own personal Keurig machine. :)

I played around in the vB5 user settings and it looks like their DST logic may be a bit screwy. I'm in Eastern time and if I leave the setting at "Always detect DST settings" then your post is off but if I manually set it to "DST correction always on" then it is right.

EDIT: To clarify, it should be showing 11:14am local time to me and 10:14am local time to you in your location. For me it is not detecting DST correctly so it is showing 10:14am to me also unless I manually set the DST option.

The company will replace it if needed, it may just need cleaned but all 3 of us use it all day long. I'm the only one that makes coffee, the boss and admin assistant drink tea though it.

Not really; tone of the thread is the same as this one and the only response from a staff member so far is not in regards to the actual thread topic.

Funny thing is "Mr. morally bankrupt, but, I can be bought to think different" posted that as long as the thread remained civil it would remain open. Then it got closed right after his post.
