StopForumSpam BotScout Integration

AdminBB is now integrated with StopForumSpam and BotScout, what is it? Well it blocks spam from registering on your forums... it stops a spam user in real time from joining if they are listed on the spam user submissions on the StopForumSpam and BotScout website.These are very handy tools to fight spam on your forums.

I have tested it trying to register using a submitted spam username and email, and it stopped me. So I recommend this to anyone who would like to keep their forum spam free. For more details you can visit them at

You should look for another Captcha system, sadly the bots have now cracked it

Were your bots able to penetrate security and actually post though?

 

Yea they posted and PM'd some hard core gay porn :p
But it all stopped after using the SFS integration.. they probably werent bots, im guessing they were real people as they PM'd members, and replied to one of my emails. So if it is real people we can't do anything about it.

Who on earth would want to get paid to spam and hack peoples' forums? That's just downright sick.

 

Yes, but they do. And theres nothing people can do to prevent it if it is actual people spamming.

I was just wondering whether or not the two would work with each other. My sites haven't been attacked yet since I had StopForumSpam installed. On my VB board, I turned off SFS and only had akismet installed. Within one day, I had 30 spammers resgistered on the forum!

 

Yes they will work perfectly fine together as xenforo has a mod that integrates them together.

 

I'm not surprised to hear this, actually. I'm sure these low-life people probably have their bosses or whoever telling them: "It doesn't matter if you get banned loads of times from so and so's forum.... Keep registering and keep trying!"

That botscout thing, can that be used on PHPBB as well?

I would turn SFS back on if I were you, mate. We haven't been hit with spam since this last summer and I think that's partially what's saving us.

 

I dont think there is BotScout for phpBB, just SFS.

 

Dang. That'd be a nice addition to add.

 

I just found the mod for phpBB3 and BotScout, it's here: http://startrekguide.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=95128#p95128 but it's still in BETA and could very well be unsupported & buggy
