the 'Is Suck' message problem..

There's nothing more juvenile than the countless number of idiots that post "___ is suck" messages. It's lame and irritating to watch these fill up the forum discussions. (Sorry, I suppose that this is more of a gripe than a suggestion)

Is there ANY way to discourage these kinds of posts from polluting the Soup boards? Maybe superimpose an 'I'm a dork' face over the poster's icon for a month? You know, brand the annoying person with a moron icon or something?

I dunno.. free speech and the spirit of the board doesn't exactly condone the locking out kind of fiasco that we've seen elsewhere. But
there's just got to be some ideas on how to discourage 'Staples is suck' and 'Buy.com is suck' messages. They're pointless.

 

Your suggestion "is suck".

Part of the fun is using this overused phrase to indicate:
1. Unhappiness at a Hot Deal gone bad
2. Displeasure at a bad site
3. General anger toward a bad company (or a good company) who couldn't or wouldn't give you the deal for which you were hoping.
4. Disagreement with another person with whom you playfully wish to banter back and forth over opinions (like this post).

When I use it, it is FOR FUN, and I don't fully mean it (except for AnadTech who really is "is suck"). My vote is to keep it, don't ban it, let us have fun with it!

Don't know "RipRidah" but I like his thinking (at least on this phrase)...

I guess some things trancend even the most "is suck" people. .

I don't mind this phrase in moderation, especially when it's part of a larger overall post.. Messages that just contain the phrase pose no useful purpose and will be frowned upon and the moderators are free to rip off the offending person's head, and pee down their neck! .
