Wanting to make a forum.

I am wanting to make gamingisland forum but tbh, I am abit lazy and wanting to make it match the homepage somehow :S, but at the same time afraid that forum wont go far because of the competition, like gamingfx and my former competition Planetgamers overall...

MyBB is my only choice since I dont want to waste money that wont probz last.

 

If you think of that way, then nothing will ever last, AdminBB has a lot of competition... but we are doing great. Takes time and patience along with motivation.

 

Joker there are paid boards that you can use. IPB springs to mind as one. You can lease a board form them for like $9.99 a month and no setup fee the only draw back I see with it since I have used this as that going with their lowest plan only allows up to 10 users online at a time. But I don't know how you feel about IPB and what your money situation is but they will allow you to cancel at anytime.

 

Only ten? That sucks. What happens if you buy a license?

 

I would never ever reccomend the IPB lease license... can be the worst mistake you ever make.

 

lol, $149 is what happens! I never had the inclination to purchase it, I have only purchased two forum softwares and thats Vb and UBB thats it. And not even using UBB. I guess it depends on the monetary situation of the person. Frankly if I could not buy then Mybb would most likely be my choice the only thing about Mybb is I have an issue installing the themes others may not thats the reason I don't use it for anything.

 

MyBB skin installing is the most easy thing to do, upload the unziped folder into the images folder and there you go.

 

You forgot that you must go to the AdminCP and upload the .xml file, haha

 

Yeah thats what everyone says but when I do it I get all kinds of whacked out stuff.

 

Have you tried the "Ignore version compatibility" option when you upload the .xml file?

 

Do this and you should have no problems.

 

Well, seeing as you're lazy and may not have the time or motivation to make the forum and integrate it with your site, then maybe find another gaming forum and make a bit of a deal with them. You could become, like, sister sites; they could use your site as their forum's homepage and you could use their forum as your site's forum.

After all, there's no real point in making 'another' gaming forum (seeing as there are already thousands out there) if you can't even maintain it, plus this way you're helping out one site and they're helping you out too.

 

Joker your entering into a saturated market! Your success is going to be dependent on your ability to make it stand out from the other 2 million out there! Your choice of forum ware is good if your not up to spending the money on paid ware.

 

joker buddy....i suggest u to go to MYBB for a single reason....its really easy and the easiest forum software.....
further the mods installing are very easy in few min without code edits.....this feature is lacking in IPB

and am a non techie and a doctor...and i have created a forum for my college and it is running very well with MYBB.
their support is really great,and u have many skins to choose.
without hesitation go for it buddy.
