And has been for about 6 yrs !

Don't believe me than read this from the Google Webmasters Blog :

    http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/beyond-pagerank-graduating-to.html

    Read it ?

If you don't believe it, you will be chasing shadows, and your site/forum/ blog will never hit the top of organic searches.

So if PR is dead what does that actually mean.

Well it means that if you are paying an SEO company, or expert to increase your PR, you might as well go outside and give the money to a homeless person, it will do more good.

Well that means SEO companies are dead then ?

Yep it does, unless they can write you original authoritative content, or get you backlinks ( anchored) in reliable content, in niche, and in quantity, give some more money to that homeless person.

Since 2009 Google has been on a mission to clean up the net, Panda and Penguin were major parts in that process, first they got rid of the backlink farms, and the companies that promised you a top spot in Google for certain keywords.
Next they got rid of PR10 backlinks from sites that have nothing to do with yours, giving you juice, now you have to get links from in niche sources for the links to have any weight.
Then they introduced authorship, this is linked to Google plus, if you have Google plus account and have set up the alerts properly, you should get an alert everytime someone mentions your name, or your site on the net, Google uses this authorship to rate your reliability, it assumes that the more people are talking about you ( or your site) the more reliable it is, which in a way is true, no-one recommends a rubbish product.. do they.

So what you need to do, to climb those organic search pages is produce reliable, well written authoritative content, that other sites will want to tell their members about.

    Simple really.

Oh and Promotion Forums,.... Dead too !

Can't say I've ever paid much attention to the PR rating system, and not when Google offers site owners to pay to get ranked higher than you for certain keywords searched for anyway. To me that kind of defeated the object of even having a PR system, when a person can pay to still get ranked above you in same niche - and with a new forum started.

It was useless and I'm glad it is gone.

Webmaster paid too much attention to it when in reality it didn't do a thing to help a site. All it did was give people bragging rights over some others.

In my opinion, only those huge and well-known companies can still get some profit from PR, because in most of the cases, PR business want to talk only about relevant things and not about the companies that people barely know. One thing is to write a good PR but another one is to make it relevant and published. So far, we are operating some hosting business and while publishing the PR in the news page - Google analytics show that the page is rarely visited. So my notice so far is that if you have some innovation in your company - the new will be better reached through social media than through your press page or other PR websites.

Just love what you wrote here. It was always like this, just Google allowed people playing and taking advantage. This is really good "news| .

As you can see by the date, this is hella old news. Even before they announced it, most of us already knew it....or at least I thought most of us did LOL

You would be surprised at just how many admins still talk about PR, and treat it as a goal.
