    This kind of stuff is uber important. Keeping the bounce rate low increases your trust factor so your emails can make it to the inbox and not spam.

    When you first buy a new forum, it's important to clean your list so you don't get booted from Mandrill etc...

    If you're comfortable with Python, you can use Mailgun's free Flanker library to do a first pass: https://github.com/mailgun/flanker

    Kickbox.io's API lets you check 100 email address a day for free (more for paid). If it's a relatively small forum, just setup a cron job to check 100 addresses a day for a month and then you're good to go...

    This will help your deliverability to the "real" email addresses.
