How many threads do you think an owner should make on a daily basis? 1-5? 5-10? More?

Personally, I try to start up as many threads as I can when I'm on and if I see that my community is making threads as well, then I try to make more to continue to flow of content.

So, how about you though? How many threads do you start on a daily basis as an owner?

i Don't think there is a golden rule for that, it depends on many factors like how active is our board, what is the niche and does it contribute to the website. What is also important in this is that you need to have something to tell. If our board goes about factor x you can look if there is something buried in the news that no one noticed but is important. But making posts should be a mix for our forum and for your own pleasure to do so.

That's why I love running an online community because its my passion and I find a lot pleasure in running it. I don't mind making a lot of posts or threads on a daily basis because I know my members enjoy all the new content.

I equate this to seeding your site for content. At some point, it needs to be able to generate content without you seeing it at all, otherwise something is wrong (it's not sustainable).

However, if you're also a passionate community member, and not just growing to accelerate growth, there's nothing wrong with continuing to post new content. Keep in mind though, sometimes it's obvious when you are just trying to seed the site. It can look very desperate.

Its hard to put an actual number to it. No matter what I try to post something new (thread wise) per day. However it depends on other factors such as how busy the forum is, my content ideas and so on.

I can easily take a few days off and my forum will still have 5-10 new topics everyday from our members/staff members.

As many as needed without spamming and still staying on topic and providing value

I try to make at least 10. If you're a dedicated forum owner then at least 5-10 a day is sufficient.

I'm not the owner, only a moderator on a forum and I start up to 5 threads per day. Somehow it seems to me that it would be unnatural if I overdo it. In addition to that, I answer other threads, so that's maybe 10 more posts per day.

I think it depends. however, if any want their participants to talk - threads should be given constantly and as many as he/her can on various topics.

I don't think a certain number could be stated.
Just make enough topics to keep your forum's activity decent and make people post.

I think a forum own should make a point to post daily on their own message forum. IMO, when we start trying to guess at how many times we should post each day, then we're doing something wrong here... It is a forum, our forum and we want the community to grow, right? Then why bother trying to formulate the number of posts we should be making? Let's lead by example and show members what being active is all about. Reply to topics, post new topics and treat the forum what it is,...a forum. Be active on your forum, it deserves it... my few cents at least :)

I think it depends on how much material you have that you can start a discussion on. I think its important that the owner or administrator create new threads to generate new discussion but also encourage other members to create their own. But if you don't have enough material to meet a quota of new threads then it will work against the forum.

There is that "Been there and done that" feeling when I see members post the same topic but in a new thread. Which tends to turn me off real fast especially from the forum. I try to find news items, things on the internet or anything else that I think will engage the membership of the forum to create new threads on.

Just have to be careful and not go too far outside what I know. I have seen forum owners try to target an audience they don't know much about so create some threads to engage that audience. End up alienating not only them but their regular members because they made assumptions or came across as rude when creating the thread,

When i am free i just make up to 3 post in my forum daily. Since you are the owner you can decide to make 1-2 post daily as the ideas comes in.

I wouldn't say there is any set amount of threads per day that a forum owner should be making but as many as they can think of in terms of topics that would strike a conversation.

For many it could only be 5 a day and for others, it could be 20, every forum owner is different when it comes to threads per day created.
