We used to get 5k to 8k visits from Google per month on vBulletin 4, but now we're receiving 19k visits per month from Google. I've noticed that we're getting ranked and indexed faster than ever now.

Here's a screenshot of our traffic sources this month.

So, how is your forum doing now if you've switched from vBulletin to Xenforo?

We actually moved to Xenforo on October 16, 2013. We received 5k visits from Google back in February alone, so I'm quite glad on what Xenforo is currently doing for us.

Dunno about the Google bit, but that's way too many tabs to be healthy.....

You can do a historical graph on analytics - what you posted doesn't show any increase or context

This probably also proves (unscientifically) that those who complained about XF "hiding" the forum descriptions in a jQuery popup, were wrong. Unsurprisingly.

It looks much neater done like that. So much so that I shamelessly nicked the idea for my own site.

If xenforo sites rank better than vbulletin sites, then it does not prove anything about SEO details. It only proves that the general SEO is better.
None the less, I do think you are correct that adding the forum description to tooltips is much better and works fine for SEO.

It would be nice to see an overview of traffic changes of vb sites that moved to xf.
