It's an odd fact about human nature that good news doesn't sell nearly as well as bad news.

So a few years ago, I tried an experiment. I mostly avoided watching the news on TV for a good six months. I wanted to see if avoiding hearing about and reading about bad news would make me a little happier.

    Did it work for me?

It was a good idea. However, it didn't help me much, as I realized that their is just as much violence going on in the world, even if I didn't know the specific headlines. World violence doesn't go away if I stop watching the news.

But the thing is, even though avoiding bad news on TV didn't work so well for me, maybe it would work for you. Hey, maybe it could make you feel a little happier if you avoid watching news about violence that's occurring in our world. It might be worth a shot.

I rarely watch TV. If I do it's a video or sports.

I get all my news the old fashion way by newspaper or online. The news doesn't depress me. There are bad people in this World and not much we can do about them.

I'm not big on TV news either. A lot of it is fluff peices that they advertise to get to watch the news.

Last night I was clearing recordings off my DVR and CBS was advertising that "Daylight savings time may actually be harmful to your health" in order to get you to watch their newscast. I love how the news takes something that might effect 1 in a million people and blow it out of proportion to scare you into watching the news.

I usually get my news via Google news or Twitter. Sometimes, I'll watch the nightly news though to see what's going on within my city.
