I recently had a small issue where I had to deal with a human troll. Now, he decided to take the route of temporary emails to harass my forum. I thought I'd help everyone out to list them all (that I've found with the help of others) so you can ban them all on your forum. Great job on the list but I am sure there are thousands upon thousands more. That is the thing about temp emails, its quite easy to start a temp email site if you know what you are doing.
Like I stated on my forum is that I understand that this is true. I tried to find all the top ones (using first three pages) and ones that didn't require a sign up page.
I'm not going to ban them atm but if i get one of them emails on my site i will start banning each and everyone of them i hate trolls on forum stuff like "i'm going to hack your forum" trying to make you scared your better of just like go for it!
Thanks for the list, but is there any way to add these all in a single entry? Now I need to add each mail one by one!
I don't know of a way to add them all at once on XenForo. With IPB and vbulletin you can copy and paste the list.
This is a useless battle. There are uncountable numbers of free / temporary email hosts and more can be generated as needed. It is as useless to try to ban these emails as if I posted a list of 100 spammer IPs and and advised everyone to ban those as well. You need to battle the person/issue- not the email addresses (or IP Proxies) they use.
I am experimenting with some different ways of blocking bots and spammers. It so far has proved to be very proficient in blocking them. On the site I am testing it on I turned off captcha and q&a and shut off the default spam protection that xenforo has. So far it's been blocking 100% as there hasn't been a spam post in moderation for weeks since I put in place. The site used to get at least 3 or 4 a day. Coincidentally user registration is also down. Used to get 5 to 7 a day and all with throw away emails only used to register and confirm. Now it gets 1 or 2 legitimate registrations. All of this is accomplished at the server level with Windows Power Shell scripting and ASP.Net.
Don't waste my time adding them for same reason. I might add one or two very well known and used ones at the start of a new forum, other than that I ban them as and when they get used to register with.
I believe the best way to combat trolls or spammers is to moderate new members posting, of course for a certain amount of posting - at least it worked for me. Trying to blacklist free email address is almost useless considering the fact there are thousands of them.
