No, trial is set for January. Then yes, appeals could follow as well. People forget that and that IB has DEEP pockets to pay lawyers. Xenforo will be lucky to survive I think, even if they win.

I know that, but as far as ordinary customers are concerned, a site not working is "down", whatever the technical reasons

I agree with Mark. The site is down (and still is) because we cannot access it, whatever the reason. It isn't "just" a DNS issue.

    An amusing thread on vB:

Well, at the moment - that's the root cause of why most people can't access the site. It really is just a DNS updating issue since they renewed the domain.

As for that thread on vB -- I lol'd...

It is just a DNS issue still propagating with some people. Your making a mountain out of a molehill.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what vB announce at this forum convention.

How awful that Xenforo have to wait until January for the trial. It seems such a long way off.

Nope. I did a DNS flush earlier which bought the site back for me. Half an hour later, it's gone again, giving server errors.

Yep! That can happen when DNS is propagating. Had the same myself when one minute can access forum and write a thread, then 10 minutes later start getting NameCheap parked page again. I know it's odd behaviour, but it happens and is all to do with DNS still not propagated proper with some people. It can take 24 hours before everything is back to normal

If I was getting the Namecheap page again I'd agree. But it isn't. It's a server error, and the clue's in the name.

Just tried 4 different browsers (refreshing each one). I can see XenForo with all of them, forums and main page is there for me. But if I launch Proxify it's still showing me Parked Page with NameCheap. They still have DNS issues going on, give it time.

Amusing is right. Just a lot of stupid speculation and theories from people who know nothing.

When someone on vB said this: "a team of about 9 IB coders have been working on vB5 for at least a year now" it sets out an interesting scenario, since we have seen what 2 coders (Kier and Mike) can do in about a year - Xenforo. With 9 coders and the muscle of IB, I would expect vB5 to be to be the best forum software on the planet. And really, that is the way they should be fighting Xenforo - honest competition - not draining them with litigation.

Mark B. Why on earth would you say something stupid like this?

The auto-renew at Namecheap failed. Simple as that. No one is making any excuses for XenForo. It's a fact. You are so quick to jump on anyone who corrects anything that is INcorrectly said about XenForo.

Seriously y'all have gotten to the point where anyone who corrects a someone about anything to do with XF is a "fanboy", even if the statement was incorrect or an outright lie. Seems y'all have become fanboys about the xf fanboys LOL!

No offence, but how do you know it's fact?

All your doing there is taking their side in believing things XenForo say. Mark doesn't believe that's the case and frankly neither do I along with one or two others in this thread. We're all entitled to our own opinion of that one. But how can you claim "it's fact", when you know nothing of the sort really. We're saying we have our doubts about it being all NameCheaps fault, not that it's fact and we know that's IS the case. Just don't see how you can claim - it's fact?

I have changed my own DNS many times. It's taken a matter of hours to propagate if that. It's certainly never generated server errors.

Mine has before, showing server error pages along with NameCheap parked page, really odd! Sometimes it takes 1-2 hours, other times it can take much longer. But I have had server error pages served up while DNS is propagating, along with NameCheap parked page shown also.

Well of course you have your doubts. If it's anything to do with XF, you're going to put it down. So whatever.

ok, so I don't know that it's a fact, for sure, but neither do you know that it is not a fact.
I have a feeling it IS, because I've had auto-renew fail on me twice. That's why I believe the speculation is stupid.

Well yes, and if it's anything to do with XF. According to you, we're all wrong your right. I don't know what your issue is Peggy? But since you started posting again here, you've done nothing but try really hard to get a RISE out of people, quoting them posting snarly remarks. You just seem to be looking for an argument with people? I'm not getting involved in one with you, because know that's what you want. Just pointing out it's been very obvious!

Thing is, it's not really about whether auto renew failed or not. It's about how important the business is to them now.

My domain's on auto renew but I *still manually check it's renewed* because if it failed it'd cripple my site. And my site is non profit.

I can't believe they didn't check....I'm afraid it only substantiates what many of us are suggesting, which is that they aren't really bothered any more.

There are too many coincidences, too many things not happening or going wrong. And it wasn't like this originally.
