Just thought of something comical here! What if XenForo 1.2 is being held back to coincide with the same release date as vB5 at forumcon. Done to steal the show away from them

I think unlikely. vB just recently announced that it would unveil at forumcon. This wasnt months in the making or anything.

A bit late to the party. . .
I've been thinking the same thing for a few weeks now.
IDK. It seems that for everyday nothing is said, the speculation gets worse. Delaying a release just to coincide with vB5 doesn't make sense to me. I suppose that would be a decision for their business manager.

Can you imagine if that was the case. OMG, that sure would send one massive shock-wave around every forum board talking about it. I wouldn't be able to stop laughing if that happened wondering what the XF fan-boys must now be thinking, they'd be numb with shock?

I hope that is not the case. Competition is good. I think if it wasn't for xenforo, vB4 would be a very different product still struggling along.

Re: vB5 being announced shortly. Is this just speculation? Or is it fact (ie. Have vBulletin themselves said vB5 will be announced) or have they just said there will be an announcement on something? If fact can someone point me in the direction of a vB post on this subject to back it up?

Don't worry. Found it. Just refers to "next version" however as it also says "next generation" we can only hope they don't mean this is 4.3 or any 4.x series (which is last generation).

I find it incredible that Wayne Luke "hasn't seen it" (referring to a reply he made on the subject). This certainly makes you wonder this is a whole new product (but I think one outsourced entirely to China is more probable that it being Xenforo).

There is no specific thread created as an announcement on vBulletin forums talking just about vB5. But it's been brought up in a number of threads quite a lot, such as the one about German.org closing, that vBulletin 4.2 thread and a few others. No staff are hiding it's coming at ForumCon, and is being talked about quite openly if you have access to customer forums on vBulletin.

    Just to show you.

Maybe I've drunk too much coffee tonight. But the idea that the lack of apparent development on Xenforo is linked in some way to vB5 is one of the more interesting conspiracy theories. What if Kier and Mike ARE developing, but developing a CMS and blogs and calendar - all the features required to make XenForo a possibility for vB5 (so vB3/4 can upgrade to it) and they have indeed reached some settlement behind the scenes?

We've covered just about every possible explanation from exhaustion or mental illness right through to secret settlements with IB. ONE of them must be right, but which one?

Now that is an interesting theory.

Maybe not. Found this which suggests it is a genuine in-house development:

Who have you quoted there saying "even if the core isn't completely rewritten, which it isn't ". I've asked Wayne Luke on vBulletin and even he doesn't know the answer to that one. So I'm curious who your quoting who so called does? I don't think anyone knows right now if it is, or isn't apart from IB themselves.
