Even though I rarely post at the vBulletin support forums any longer I do stop by to keep up on what's happening with vBulletin. I use it on one new site and the only reason I use it is I didn't have an extra IPB license and didn't want to buy one for a site I may or may not keep online. Not to mention I still have 4 unused licenses that I didn't sell with the rest.

On to the reason for this thread. There has been 2 threads about the the IB v xenForo lawsuit. The first one was closed because of all the fighting going on in it. The second one, https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/371874-Internet-Brands-claims-against-Xenforo-(part-2), was just closed.

In my eyes that thread should have been closed as soon as the person started it. There was a reason why the first thread was closed and anyone would think the same would happen. Not to mention the lawsuit is no ones business except for the parties involved, IB and xenForo. Anything being posted by people that don't know the fact or reason why IB filed the lawsuit is speculation at best.

Lastly let me state I have no interest in the lawsuit and don't care who wins or loses. It will not affect me in anyway. Although some people think if IB wins the xenForo customers will be sued down the line, something I think is ridiculous. What would possibly be gained by sueing customers that use xenForo? If IB were to win they would more than likely get control of xenForo just like Photopost got vbGallery upon settlement of that case. So anyone that left IB in a huff and converted to xenForo would be right back where they started.

    Wouldn't that be ironic?

Yeah threads discussing legal battles of a company against the community that the thread has been posted on or the other way around is not a good idea. I would have closed it, moved it away and announced that future threads will be removed. I mean really it can only create slander and gossip that COULD be used against you in the lawsuit process...
