    Hi,
I set up my board a week ago and I approached a friend of mine who has had experience in designing and running a forum and asked if he would like to join my staff. Originally he was just to be a moderator but, I decided to promote him to admin. The thing is I am really beginning to regret it.

He wont welcome new members, he only responds to topics mainly with the words "I agree" and actually refuses to begin a new topics except when its to show off something he has designed. Also refuses to respond when I am PM him.
The main problem was yesterday I took the board down for maintenance because, I wanted to add some features and arrange my members into groups. I had been working on it steadily for about 3 hours and then glanced at the board and saw that members were still posting. I got very confused because I was sure I had took it off. I went into the admin section and saw that someone had reactivated the board. When I asked him whether he had done it he said no. I informed him that I hadnt done it. He then said well your board must have been hacked. Which clearly wasnt the case.
I am not sure what to do. He has done alot for the board. I.e design the logo, some of the graphics but he just seems to not listen to what I say. What do I do?

de-admin him. your board is only a week old, so it shouldn't be traumatic.

change your passwords first, then do it. forum AND ftp passwords.

if you need to soften the blow, tell him it is because the admin accounts were probably hacked, and so you want to keep the number of admins to one (yourself), for better board security. that's reasonable, especially since he suggested the board was hacked.

Simply give him a warning and tell him if he wants to be an admin he has to act as one.

    1st being a team player
2nd. Listening to the root admin (You)
    3rd. Welcoming new members.

If you dont say anything to him he will never know.

If his actions still occur demote him to Mod

I don't think this is actually that big of a problem. You should just let him/her know what you feel.

In a business partnership, oftentimes, we don't make our point clear and keep going in circles till the partnership can stand no longer. Just tell him/her what you feel and what you think should be done about it. If he/she understands and improves accordingly, all well and good. Otherwise, they know the possible repercussions.

If he is the only other Administrator. You should ban him.

    I agree with Bucket.

Your forum is new and not that busy.Drop this festering pust and learn from it.

You can do fine with Global Moderators assisting YOU,in running the forum.

    By the way,

I used to have a forum run on phpBB2 and then phpBB3.

    :D

    I do NOT agree!

He has gone way beyond that stage. He is being a THREAT to her forum with his behavior.

    He should be banned.

    Here is why:

He is being disrespectful.A liar and ignores the forum owner PM's.

That is plenty of grounds to go on, to BAN him.
