What Jim said is correct. Once your forum is past the break even point, you have a business, and when you have a business your staffer(s) are more closely watched. A janitor can work both at Staples and Home-Depot, but you wouldn't want to have your personal advisor working in both! Obviously this scenario has little affect when you're starting out a forum, especially if the intentions are not for profit. It all depends what forum you're talking about and what kind of competition you really have.

BTW technical administrators work on many different forums. I've seen it happen on the big boards, and it also happens on mine...

I have to agree with this. If you are not paying your mods/admins, then I can not see how you can object to them being mods/admins on other sites.

It would be different if they where bad mothing your forum.

If you are paying your mods/admins, then yes, you have a right to insist that they do not work for others.

i wouldnt mind, on our main competitor, their admin (the one who doesnt hate me) owns a forum with me about a different subject, and i was admin on the competitor forum for a few weeks before the eviladmin banned me without reason.

as long as they were active on my forum and doing their job, it wouldnt matter.

While I see both points of view, my set of mind is that I trusted someone enough to make them staff, when they go and work for another website I don't know what type of things they are talking about in hidden forums etc and therefore I remove them as staff.

Why make someone moderator if they're going to work on the competitors team?

Seeing as I hate my competitor forum, it's a slap in the face when my staff does the same thing for them. its counter productive
