Mass Email

What do the admins think about that? This place used to be amazing and has over 2,000 members. How about you guys send out a mass email to every user to remind them about the site.

Could just say that it's a reminder email and restate what the site has to offer.

 

It could say "Chris has coffee for you, get your butt back to the forum!"

 

It's not a bad idea and usually does work to some extent. But before we send out anything, we (I) should build up some activity with our current visitors first. That way, when the people who get the e-mail come back and start looking around, it doesn't look totally dead thus defeating the purpose.

 

Emails like this tend to make me forge a site exists very quickly. Spam = bad, mkay?

 

yeah, it can be when sent too often, but one every now and again is fine

 

I know from experience with another admin forum which I admin with 25k members, send out mass email, no-one will come.

 

Usually if there's something worth checking out, they might. If it's just "hey, we're active again -- lots of new posts, come check us out!" then no, they probably won't come.
