Switching from VB to IPB -- Redirects

    For those of you familiar with the conversion from VB to IPB.

    I'm very curious about redirects. Does the conversion program build a complete list of redirects for your new IBP site?

    I'm curious because I don't want some of my inbound links which go to specific threads/posts to be lost.

    My understanding is, from reading the IPS forums, that they are all set up to handle the links as part of the conversion process. I've yet to actually experiment with it.

    When you set up the converter to import from vbulletin you name the import. Once the conversion is done you upload the files from the converter tools folder and edit the config.php file and add the name you gave the conversion. Your new IPB install will then redirect all the old vbulletin urls to the new IPB urls.

    Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but this is exactly what I was looking for.

    The problem is I am not sure where to upload the "tools" folder in the converters folder.

    Do we upload it in the root of the ipb install directory?

    What do we upload ? The tools directory, or the specific software directory.?

    Please help on this issue, it would be great.

    Upload the files, showthread.php, member.php and the rest to the forum root.
