I'm running vBulletin 4.0 and becoming utterly disgusted with it and it's support. Their "community" forum is the most customer unfriendly support forum I've ever seen. They block you from posting until you prove you are a licensed user by providing a bunch of info. I have a license but my webmaster has it, not me and there are time zone issues so for I am blocked from receiving support because of their nonsense.

Anyway, I need help. I can't log into my front page/CMS. I get this error pop up when I got to the page:

Your submission could not be processed because you have logged in since the previous page was loaded.

When I log in I get the "Thanks for logging in" page, am redirected to the site and then that garbage pops up again.

In additional all the default filler stuff that comes with the CMS (the help articles and stuff) are showing on the front page even though I deleted them all and replaced them with my own articles. The articles I wrote are showing up in the DB though. How are files that no longer exist showing up? Caching issue?

I can log on to my forum and blog pages just fine. It's just the CMS that is completely screwed up. Any ideas? The cookie paths are correct and I disabled all plug ins and that didn't help either.

    Thanks for any help!

I would have tried to help, if I knew anything about v4, like many other admins I am not going to use that version.

My impression is v4 may not work as intended for a while yet, as you may have noticed.

In addition, I am not sure what this means: "I have a license but my webmaster has it", whoever the contact person is on the license should be able to add the person who is not on the license. So if you webmaster actually bought the vb license he should add you.

My webmaster is the contact person but unfortunately he is dealing with a possible cancer diagnosis and isn't exactly around much. I've asked him to add me but he hasn't yet gotten back to me. He's pretty sick right now so it's pretty much been left to me to figure all this out.

v4 is working beautifully for the forums and the blog. I can not for the life of me figure out why the CMS/front page is so screwed up. I don't know much about MySQL either so I'm really floundering here and just trying to do my best.

Understood about people having issues, hope things work out.

This information will help people help you when some one sees this thread.

Another idea is to buy a used vb4 license so you can get help directly from vb. They can be purchased cheap, and sold if not needed later - although there are some specific guidelines to follow. Or even a vb3.x license even cheaper, and if it is active you get ticket support, or you could even buy phone support.

Be warned: the vb forums, or even tickets, may not give answers either.

Or you could google for other places on the web that does vb type support. Which is what most people seem to be doing that are using vb4 that need help.

I've tried other sites. Got completely ignored there too except for one joke of a site that refuses to let you post a question unless you have at least 15 posts. I don't have time for that kind of nonsense. I just need a little help.

I'm about ready to give up since no one wants to or can help me. I'm going to wipe the server clean and reinstall everything. It will be a bit of a pain but since we haven't gone live yet because of the issue there are no posts or users to worry about yet. Everything was just test posts. I've got over 200 people waiting to register though so I need to get this fixed.

Thanks for the tip about buying a used license. I may do that if I can't get the license info from the webmaster soon. He's understandably preoccupied.

The vb forums as of late are becoming more informational, in the last week. My guess is that many have stopped trying, there is more support staff, and the product seems to be working a little better. Internet Explorer seems to be especially problematic, and AOL users too.

However, if I were to open up a new vb forum, I would start with vb3.8 and slowly work towards v4 if you wanted to stay with vb. vb3.8 works great. I realize by what you typed you were hoping for a nice cms/forums/blog though.

We are switching to IP.Board soon though. In fact, if I had to start over today I would start with a IP.board. They will even install it for you for free.

The way it works is this:
    • a vb3.8 license can have an 'active' or 'inactive' status, they can not be renewed. So once it goes inactive, that is the end of ticket & downloads, but you still get forum access.
    • v4 suite gets access to tickets & forums forever.
    • v4 forums only gets 30 days ticket support.

If you decide you really want a vb license asap from the company, keep in mind that they manually approve purchases (usually), at least with pay pal. And I believe they may also still be collecting funds through the uk still, if so you may need to call your credit card company to get the transaction pre-authorized.

I happen to use vb4, and have a full version with cms and blog. We got rid of the CMS because of the high query + issues and just vBadvanced.

When I had it, I had no issues with the CMS and logins.
