Hey there Nick and management crew ... a little confused re what folks are saying on this forum about whether vb 4 is an equally-featured part of AA's forum software topics, current & future. Re this linked thread's page 2 (so far) discussion indicating that few if any AA members will be using vb 4. Which leads naturally to vb 4 technical and supportive discussion not being much of a topic on AA.

What's the official position of AA management re vb 4 forum software as a topic with the other forum softwares that are featured on AA? I understand that not every software can be given the same prominence re dedicated sub-forums and such, it would be based on usage by the AA members. If it's assumed few if any AA members are vb4 users, then naturally this site can't be as much of a vb4-admin resource. In the future there will be quite a number of forums using vb 4 and I'm wondering if AA is a forum we should be looking to for other vb4 admins, or not so much.

Hate to be objectively cold about it, but I'd like to know before I invest more time and threads in AA. Y'all are a great bunch of people and have good things to say re other aspects of forum management. But of course a one-stop shop is easier for me. :)

Others might want to know as well - both current and potential future members. Thanks! :D

There is no official stance or plan. Whatever happens, happens. TBH, there aren't very many forums at all with many vB 4 users (except vBulletin.com), as far as I'm aware. vB 4 users are welcome here just as much as vB 3.8 users, IP.Board users, SMF users, phpBB users, and any other user.

I mean, if there aren't many members here who are fans of vB 4, then what can we do?

I'm not sure if I quite grasp what you're asking, but does my post answer your question? If there's anything that is a show-stopper for you, is there anything we can do to make it better?

    Thanks Nick. No, no showstoppers.

But if there is a movement to freeze out substantive vb 4 discussion, nothing personal toward vb 4 admins but just because a lot of members aren't feeling kindly toward IB, then of course that's a disincentive for any vb 4 admins to make this a standard stopping place. I just wasn't sure if it was an actual policy that vb 4 would not be encouraged. If management is neutral on the matter then that's a different flavor. But in any case an absence of supportive vb 4 threads & discussion leads to an absence of vb 4 admins - it's a trend - if that makes sense. As would be the case for any brand. :)

I'm assuming AA isn't trying to attract vb 4 admins at this time? I found AA through a link you posted in the vb community forums, don't know if that effort is continuing. There are clearly a lot of non-pro-developer vb 4 admins with a lot of questions on that forum now. By no means is it all big communities and corporate boards. A less cluttered place to communicate would be helpful. But anyway.

Well whatever comes our way is welcome. We aren't exactly trying to attract a certain crowd or deter any other certain crowd. I just happened to be a very active member on vBulletin.com, which is why I placed the link to AA in my signature there (and that's why we have/had mostly vB users). I did that on every active forum I participated in. If I was an IP.Board customer, things would probably be reversed, as I'd have placed the link in my signature on the IPB forum and attracted many of its users.

It just so happens that AA is made up of many vBulletin users who are passionate about its future and the product that it is. vB 4 has been viewed as a flop by many, which is why most of the discussion here seems to be negative. I do know that we have some vB 4 supporters here, and they are just as welcome. Feel free to get some positive discussion going, and I'm sure the vB 4 fans will come out to chat. :)

So yes, we are completely neutral. :)

I'm here and though I don't like what IB has done and depending on the everything else. I'll be with vb4 through that series at least. Now that I've gotten over sugar shock. I'm sticking my hands in it and seeing where I can work with.

I think that Admin Addict should just continue to do what they are doing, don't go into specific forum uses eg: vb3, vb4 just have something for vBulletin.

An admin site can't be seen as disabling talk regarding one forum software or another, what if they banned talk about ipb version 3, that would be unfair on those users who run those boards.

Just because you don't like vB4 doesn't mean others don't like it. Asking if they are going to EOL certain discussion threads about certain software is just like asking the pope if he is going to stop giving sermons on easter sunday.
