Yep! And they also have a hostile fork now: Wedge.org - Wedge - Index So that hopefully will encourage them to keep adding new features.

They won't add a lot of new features, that's for sure.

And why should they, really? They have the best package manager out there to install mods. Keep the base small and let the user decide what else to add.

I see a lot of anger in that wedge project lol. How are they gonna sell that idea?!

Sure, I've read their forum pages lol.

    Maybe they should create a wedge-anger-management-project?! :D

It is very easy. But some of the mods are way out of date or can damage forum.

myBB plug ins are safer to install and still quite easy.

Yes it is a good idea to keep the code base small.Just the basic functions that are an obvious for the default forum.Plug ins can fill it out.

Wow, after several years of development, smf 2 is actually out of beta?

As much as I like SMF, I think 2.0 is too little too late. MYBB is updating their forum on a regular basis, why SMF takes years for a good update.

Well, MyBB by far has the features of SMF.
Simple Machines took their mouth to full, no doubt about that. And I'm pretty sure they have learned a lesson.

There have been a few complaints about it.

I am sure it has happened to other software.I know phpBB based forums has had a few.

It actually happens sometimes. But it's never related to SMF itself, but to people installing mods in themes that really doesn't support it because of layout issues, timeouts during installation, installing mods the wrong way etc.

People also often install SMF 2 themes in SMF 1 forum and visa versa. They don't read, they just go for it.

In 99% of the cases, the issues are very easy solved, though. The important thing is that people don't get their db screwed up. I've never heard that happen.

SMF had to deal with a few people.Who were perverting the team concept.

Now they were able to kick the BIG problem out.

It will take time for that group to heal and get better organized.

When so many volunteers work on the same project, there will always be issues.

I am using SMF 2.0 for a private forum. It is a month old.

It is a better software than the 1.0 version. But parts of it is still out of date.

I have positive feelings about the SMF 2.0 series.Hopefully they update the few areas. Then they would be a really nice software.
