It is really so nice to see you around Kier and it is even better for all of us that you dont deny what we are on about here. Let me tell you something, i will switch to IPB soon but as soon as i see your product online i'll just buy it, right away! ;)

It's a ray of light for sure. :)

By the way, Kier if you need help with translations and such: I speak German on a native level, as well as Russian. So you just let me know if you need help with that. :)

Don't be so sure there is a no compete clause. I have talked to 2 forum owners that have sold to IB. Neither one had any kind of no compete in the contract. One owner even started up a new site in the same niche that was an exact copy. It was done because IB has a tendency to promise the world for the community and then not deliver.

If there is a non compete clause then it more than likely would be for more than a year. Most are 3 to 5 years. Of course a real business with good lawyers would know what should be written into it. IB with the way they fumble about if they made him sign one at all probably put one together that wouldn't hold its weight if contested.

They already have my cash. But then, it gets me unlimited access to vb3 so that's ok as it goes.
I concur. Without wishing to sound sycophantic, I'd buy the product immediately and look into the implementation afterwards. Such is the reputation that precedes Kier.

Whether or not there are any clauses, and there probably are, of some sort, I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm sure that Kier knows what he's doing.

    Get in line... :D

Selling a company isn't a bad thing, nor should people be thought of poorly for making a serious profit in the process. Its anyones fault but the new onwers if the new management sucks cold toe jam.

The fish stinks from the head down.

There is nothing WOW about it. James cares about the large amount of cash he "earned" from the sale. He does not care what will happen with vBulletin. Actually, we all see what is going on, just from reading the endless number of threads where people complain about install issues, major bugs and ignored security audits.

vBulletin is a doomed product and if you think that version 5 will make it roll better, you are simply wrong. You are dealing with ignorant corporate minds, with greedy hands, looking for all the available cash they can extract from your pockets.

I never talked open in public about those things because I'm a professional.
Based on their latest reply (regarding my forum ban) I understood that IB is a lost cause and all they can do is continue to ruin whatever is left of vBulletin.

I don't think it has occurred recently. In fact, I think he was one of the first... but I may be wrong.

My favorite was in one of his readme files with one of his products from long ago. In the troubleshooting section there was several steps to resolve a particular problem, the last of which was:

"I have a thing for sheep" - answer - "Sorry, can't help you with that"

I still lmao over that one :D

Kier, very nice to see you here. :)

From a personal perspective, I would like to tell you that I certainly hope that you have plans to release your own software.

I truly believe that momentum is clearly on your side, and that many, many people, myself included, would like to see nothing more than for this saga to end with Internet Brands paying a very heavy price for their arrogance and dishonesty.

And what better ending to this saga could there be, then for the good guys to win-out in the end? And I believe that in most, if not all customer's eyes, you're one of the good guys.

Just let me know where to line up when it's ready to go. :)

Mark, I don't think you should be worried about what others think. You have to make your own assesments about what you believe is right and wrong and then go from there.

But the one thing I would say to you is this...

Perhaps Internet Brands is correct, in the fact that they have haven't broken any legal agreements with their license changes etc. Perhaps the elimination of the license renewal fees and the changes they made were fair and legal. Perhaps it was fair and legal to sell people lifetime blog licenses and then tell them they have to pay for the license a second time. I'll stop there, but you know I could go on and on with more examples.

But in the end, what I would ask is....what is IB's obligation to honour the "spirit" of the agreements that were made? What about IB's obligation to not breach the trust of their customers?

At the end of the day, IB can spin things and convince themselves all day long that what they did was fair and fine - but in the end, make no mistake, it's ultimately their customer's opinion that will actually matter. ;)

It's not like a I want to be a party pooper, and I really would like to see a new piece of software by Kier but... To develop such script as vB 3.8 and so on, it takes years if I'm not wrong, and I doubt it's possible to continue developing from any of the vB old versions since I believe they are owned by IB. How would it be possible to have something in less than a year? Unless his been working on a side project all along.

I was one of the first to be banned because I saw the direction the company takes, not only related to code quality but also related to customer service. Ray did not liked the way I opposed to his broken ideology.

Correct. vBulletin is wholly owned by Internet Brands.
