I didn't, nor would I have done so.

The sale was made solely by the company directors, and I didn't find out about it until after it was completed.

Thanks for confirming that, Been Told.

Trust me I know if it was up to you things wouldn't have gone in the direction that they did. Hopefully if the subject of this thread is true you'll be able to fully control what happens.

This is a little off topic but I've always wondered if James still feels the same about that first line.

I doubt that very much. He's not the first person that sold their company or forum to IB only to regret it later.

    LOL!

I still like the general direction they were taking the product and have no problem with the financial deal I got (though I appreciate others have valid concerns on the latter).

But they should not have released it when they did. It wasn't ready (though it was progressing nicely).

I even like the style, which many hate, but again it's not complete.

That said, a God has descended unto AdminAddict, and perhaps in the long term He can bring about our salvation.....

At no point did I get even the slightest impression that he had any regrets about his decision.

I really do believe that statement, sadly.

I think at some point money starts taking over common sense. If he had done any homework on them before approving the buy out he would have seen their wonderful track record. But guess the offer was too good to pass up.

I think that's the issue. he probably won't have any regrets, if he's made a lot of money out of the deal then why would he? Sadly that's where business ethics can get messed up.

Clearly, it wasn't the right decision for vBulletin's customers, that much can now be clearly seen. But at least they haven't messed up 3.8!

With the release of 4.0 we can clearly see that Internet Brands the company is just not interested in the quality of the releases. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when they said "wait for the final release", so I did and it is not up to scratch.

The worst of it, I can't see the situation changing. I think they will now rush headlong into vb5 to extract another wad of cash from the users, but they won't get that from me.

They haven't even got my vB4 cash yet.

Like you, I like the direction, but that release is not worth my money. And won't be until it's fixed. I won't upgrade my licenses until the software fits my expectations.
