so...vb says it generates a ton of html, but i've never really paid attn to it. How many of you vb users have the forum jump menu turned off? Why? As for me, i've always had it on, and just recently turned it off to see if it made a difference in load times. So far.....no.
It's one of the first thing I turn off on a new board. 1) Because it generates a lot of useless HTML and 2)People rarely use it. I ran a poll on my main board and only a few people said that they used the jump menu.
I never use it, and I don't think many others do. I know that a few users on one of my forums use it, so I'm not going to disable it.
I turned it off on my forum, and there was a backlash from my members. So I turned it back on before they found out where I lived.
I would always remove it for guests. I was addicted to using it myself, so I always left it available for members.
I turn it off simply because it's a waste of CPU that's almost never used, and I could not implement it into my design well.
I turned it off, because my custom menu works fine enough and nobody used the jump menu. Also it doesn't really fit into my layout
I don't use vB but I have it switched on as SMF uses ajax to do it. I.e. proper use of ajax rather than ohh look, fancy pointless gimicy ajax.
see..i thought i was totally addicted to it...but once i turned it off, i found out that i dont miss it one bit...and neither does any of our members..
