Is there any way of getting a blog post to be promoted to a thread in vbulletin?

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure there isn't any built-in functionality for this. IIRC, people ask for this all the time.

    On vB4? Yes..

Go to the thread in question and at the bottom of the post click "Blog this Post" it will then take you to a blog and put it in quotes.

Damn, this is quite bad as we get quite a few people seeking advice on their blogs which isnt what theyre for and a promote to thread button would be just great!

You can promote a forum post to a blog post (this is the default functionality). But not the other way around (you cannot go from Blog to Thread).

I'm not sure what you mean by 'promote'. Post or an entire thread? How do you do this in vB 3.8.4 PL2? If this is something simple I have missed, Please excuse my ignorance.

I think its only possible in vB4, Submit a support ticket or ask on the official vB forums.

    Ok, laying this to rest.

In both vBulletin 3.8 and vBulletin 4 any user can copy any single post and post it as a new blog entry, providing they have permission to create entries. This is done by clicking "Blog This Post" on any post on the forum.

What this does is copies the content of that post, and creates a new Blog entry with the post content as the entry content. You are then given an opportunity to add anything else you want to add to that new entry.

You can not do it the opposite way. You can't take a Blog Entry and click a button to convert it to a thread in a forum.

Can you be a bit more specific? I don't see any link or icon for "Blog This Post" in any posts on my forum and I'm the admin - I have looked through the Admin User Group Permissions and don't see anything there.

On vBulletin 3.8, it looks like this: .

It should be in the lower right hand corner of every post, right next to the "Quick Reply to this post" button. Make sure Blogs are enabled and you have permission to create a blog.

You have to actually enable the "blog this post" setting as well, think it's off by default.

Where is this done? I have looked at the vB Options for each Blog 'option', and I have looked at each of the Blog permissions section in 'User Group' permissions. I can't find that setting.

vBulletin Options > vBulletin Blog; General Options > Blog This Post (it's the last setting)

OK - I still have 2.0.1 Patch Level 1. Let me update to vbblog_2-0-2 and see what happens.

Nope - I don't see the option after uploading the new 2.0.2 files.

Did you import the Blog 2.0.2 product?
