I run a teen site so I know first hand teens use foul language a lot, so I just let it go (sometimes it's not worth it). The only thing I do block on my forum are racial terms since there is no need for this period. Other than that I really don't notice any problems with foul language on my forum. You get your upset teen once in a while so in most cases it under they they are using the language.

Personally I don't see a need for it and I consider it kind of ignorant (not trying to offend anyone). I can see using foul language in face to face discussions, but, typing on a forum requires prior thought and you have the ability to edit your post before you post it (and even after in most places).

At least on Advertisement Forum I don't allow it. The point of that forum is to maintain an air of professionalism as you're supposed to be advertising your goods, services, forums, or blogs/websites. On top of that, who wants to pay for advertisement slots on a site full of swearing.

Nick, if I were you and my members were starting to report it because they were bothered by it, I'd sit back and take a moment to evaluate what would be better for the community, not so much how you feel. If it's starting to become a growing issue and your community isn't geared towards things that swearing is normally acceptable (such as heated discussion topics like politics) than there really is no reason to continue allowing it.

That's just my couple penny's thrown into the mix.
