Holyshit... it's almost impossible to theme for vB 4 through the AdminCP o.O I'm a big fan of CSS, so the UI is kind of stupid IMO.

BTW, Does someone know where can I find a theme XML's which includes all the default CSS? I tried to export it myself, but I couldn't make the XML to get all the CSS properly.

I haven't figured out. The tone sounds like my consciences
    Could be the nag though.

You won't get all the css as a LOT is in templates.

Yup, I just realized how that actually works. Kind of odd how they split the StyleVars form the actual CSS, since the values on the StyleVars are simply inserted where called on the actual CSS file.

I don't really like how it works, I'm sure that running plain CSS is much faster than parsing two billions and a half variables to achive some CSS. I'm experimenting making a vB 4 theme, but I've removed plenty of StyleVars, and replaced them with the old and delicious CSS :D

With regards to porting a style across to vBulletin 4 - I'm almost ready to start offering this as a service on a commercial site. However, my question to you Nick (and others in the thread) is how much would you see reasonable as a price to pay?

A good pre-made style is currently around $35-$40, and custom styles range from $500+. Porting a style would be custom work - but wouldn't require as much time as creating a new style from scratch. So, I think the price should be somewhere in between the two.

How much would you be willing to pay for this service?

I agree. Since not everyone likes the same layout. I could see using the variable styling with the more common css like color, margin, and tables. But any designer worth their grain of salt it going to have to completely redo the css anyway. Either to customize the variables to their layout style or hardcode into the css templates.

Depending on the depth of style change. It's gonna be different. Some styles are going to require the css to be rewritten while some are going to need the templates rewritten too. Not to mention the experience of the designer. Someone that really knows CSS and will recode the variables will draw more than you average html/css re-design. Simply because it will be more flexible for the customer to alter and add color variations.
