Do you read every single post and thread on your forum? How long does it take you to read through all of them if you do? I try to read as many as I can, but I honestly sift through a lot of them and pick ones that I'm interested in, or that have a lot of replies. More replies means a greater chance of something turning awry. I'm sure that at the end of the week, I have at least glanced inside of every single thread made. There isn't much that gets by me, but some certainly does.
I read as much as I can usually too, I dont think it is necessary to read every single post on the forum as moderators will most likely catch any violating posts if you dont yourself. The main threads I do read are usually the suggestions forum threads which we are considering doing away with as it seems to be nothing but trouble a lot of the time.
on my own forums, i read most threads, although generally dont look into the sections about sports, or the over 18's section on one of my forums, cause they just dont interest me, as long as there is staff members who read these threads, its fine
Yes, I do. You can never be too sure about the content of the posts. Not all members bother to report a post, some "let someone else do it", others think someone has already done it, so don't bother.
I rarely read every post. I do like Nick and pick things that interest me or that have a lot of replies. I try to post in threads all across the site when I can, but it is difficult at times. I mainly focus my energy on bug reports, and site feedback/suggestions.
Nope, I don't. well, on my brand new forum with 5 threads, yes..lol but I didn't on my old one. I would scan the feedback section and any questions that I could answer pretty quickly. Then move to the backend and fix any issues that had came up.
No. I read most of them out of boredom, but all of them? I wouldn't have enough time for anything else in my life.
After I start a forum, I tend to read all the posts until I find my first mod. After that, I try to make sure between the 2 (after time even more) of us read every single post. The members usually report any that were somehow missed.
I could not keep up if I wanted to either, I'm not sure how Nick keeps up with AA as much as he does. I try to read 1 thread every 1 or 2 hours, seems to work ok. There is a lot of other things to do in the background.
When my forum was small, yes, I tried to read every thread and post. But with the size it is right now, no, there is no way I could read all of the daily threads and post
My forum is still small enough that I can read most of our post/threads with ease. But that will change once it explodes.
I do when I'm first starting up, I try to post in a way that will keep the discussions going. I generally have about half the posts in my forums until they hit about 3-5k posts. But, since I know there is no way for me to be on 24 / 7 I always get a mod right off the bat. That, and some things he can deal with, while Ideal with the backend stuff. Things like member name changes, spats between members, etc. my mod handles.
I do even if it is just skimming each post. Additionally I have about 150 RSS feeds which come into my site into the "Umpire News from Around the Web" section which at the peak of the season can give me 300-400 articles a day to sift through. They come in requiring moderation so my members don't see junk. Most of these items can be deleted just by reading the title. I hope to grow to the size where I won't be able to actually read all of the posts though.
