I've always waken up to my alarm clock (thanks to my phone) for the past couple months, since well, if I don't set it I'd end up sleeping all day (til 7 pm) and hate myself for sleeping so late.

So, does an alarm clock wake you up or do you wake up on your own?

No, an (one) alarm clock does not wake me up. Three of them and my cell phone do. :D

No, the last couple I've had ended up broken... A sleepy monster smashed them.

Actually, I just smashed two of them, the third one I threw out of my balcony. You know those days in which you stay up REALLY late till like 3 or 4am(1 whole day awake) and you forgot to turn off the alarm on your clock and then it goes off while you're already in the 6th dream...Yeah... Even my mom knows to not wake me up if she hears me going to sleep at 4am, I punched my brother once in the stomach for waking me up, accidentally of course.

If I visit, remind me not to sleep in your room. :p

No, alarms do NOT wake me up. They have the opposite effect on me. They put me to sleep. I'm serious.

I don't remember if you were married or not, but wives are better than alarm clocks. :P

    This,

Well back in my high school days I would tie an alarm clock to the head of my bed and then place another one on my dresser furthest from the bed. The plan sounded good, I would still have to get out of bed to cut the other clock off should I go back to sleep after cutting the head board clock off. It got to the point where I would sleep though both clocks  Now days I have a clock with two different alarms that is spaced out about 15 minutes of each other. Then I set my phone alarm like Nick for about 15 minutes after both of those goes off.

My GOD I can't do that... I'd be so annoyed I'm capable of breaking my phone.

Oh you betcha. I'm definitely not a morning person, and need all the help I can get to wake me up.
However, my alarm clock has a snooze feature, and you can bet I utilize it to the max. It goes off every 9 minutes. I hit it a minimum of 4 times.

My internal clock wakes me about the same time every day +/- 2-3 min no matter what time I go to bed. Unless I am sick, then all bets are off.

Now if could get this internal clock to adjust for time zones when I travel...

I detect a pattern here...not everyone, but it seems that there are more forum owners and admins that have troubles waking up. Honestly, I thought I was one of the only ones.

I've never woken to alarms, and I've always had to have someone poke and prod me to wake up (not literally, as that would lead to a VERY pissed-off me).

Now, I understand that there are a lot of younger people here, and young'uns ( ;) ) are notorious for sleeping through their alarms, but it seems that those that live on the web (whether for work or play) tend to stay up later and wake later.

I know there used to be a time that I needed a MINIMUM of 10 hours of sleep before I could function. Now it's eight...and I can just get by on six.

I had three last night, and I'm suffering. Three hours of sleep and no caffeine until just a few moments ago. :(

Welp I'm not a young'un (50), but I am an internet addict, and a forum owner. I do ALOT of research on my son's disabilities, play on pogo.com, play Farmtown on Facebook, visit bookoos of forums, etc. etc etc.

However it isn't the internet that changed my sleep patterns forever. It was my son. I used to have to have a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night. I was barely alive without it. When he was born that allllll changed. Oh don't get me wrong, he was a good baby - who had his days and nights switched for the first 2 years! By the time I finally got him to sleep through the night, I was already used to catching 3, 4, maybe 5 hours of sleep. And it's been that way for 10 years and counting.

Sooooooooo I spend the time on my 'puter, since everyone else in the house is sleeping.

Alarm, you mean an alarm when off. Talking about that scrap of metal in the floor.
Dido... 2 alarm clocks with the neat feature of having 2 alarms each.

Dido.... I actually will climb out of bed and sleepwalk to both alarms 4 to 5 times every 10 minutes to hit the snooze, but it still won't wake me.

Very rarely does an alarm clock wake me up although if I have to be up for something important I'll normally wake myself up before the alarm clock. If it's just me setting the alarm to get on some kind of a schedule it will go off for an hour before I hear it.
