Now for something positive... what do you like about vBulletin 4?

Just what the title says, with no negativity at all. For me, I quite like how the style looks more modern than vBulletin 3 (I don't dislike it in the way many people seem to), I like how the blog style has been updated (it now looks very much like a proper blog rather than an extension of the forum) and the smilies are much improved with this revision.

Not to mention the CMS. While I'm personally not sure if I'll use it, it looks really impressive for a new product, especially compared to how the blog and project tools looked at time of release.

Theres nothing to even see that shows the new power of 4.0... Since i never use a default skin for VBB, its skin is purely irrelevant to me. I usually spend $500 on a custom one to make my site that more unique. I guess for the persons who stick with stock, the new style is nice.

I have never really seen it in operation, so i can't comment on what is positive about it. If it is anything like past vbulletin software upgrades, it will be fabulous.

Can we however not rant about anything negative here? I dunno, I want at least one topic that's relatively optimistic here.

It is a bit difficult to say without working with it. I am however hopeful that the suite will meet our needs for what we need to do.

    Ditto!
I've not seen anything yet to be able to comment on anything positive. Right now it's just software that needs a lot of work.

here is a positive. i like the fact that its cheaper to buy invision board than vBulletin 4. vbulletin priced themselves so high that now my choice of developing new sites based on invision board just got really easy.

    - I like the "inline quick reply" thing they have.
    - I like what I've heard about the new style system (particularly how it can automatically update things in your custom style when you upgrade the software).

That would be a neat feature.......I have put together a very custom style (custom to me) and found it hard sometimes to upgrade, especially if i would forget to NOT upload the images folder, since i have my own icons, statusicons, etc..

I'm waiting to so what kind of optimization have occurred. From a designers prospective I think from what I have seen the styling will be more flexible that ever. I can't wait to get my hands on the css/templates.

I'd say the early positives are a change in the default style. If anything, it's getting away from that same old vBulletin look. It looks like the styling will be more flexible based on what I can see here. I think we might finally be able to get away from the default look without heavy-duty skinning.

I quite like the header/navbar layout and where it's heading pending further refinements are made.

The rss feed icon, the subscribe (green tick) icon.

That's about it at this time from seeing the latest build.
