Wayne, I hope everyone got some sleep last night. I believe you and others at the company already know this but even if v4 were absolute perfection people will find something to talk about, and it will not all be positive feedback. Chin up! (I've been thinking that might have been part of the reason for the bizarre timing of the pre-sale, but I doubt that I'll ever know for sure.)
Oh I did.. Actually slept in for 30 minutes and didn't wake up until 5:30 a.m. today. Not actually hands on with this job thought. One of the thing about merging with Internet Brands is that they have a network operations department who are actually scheduled night shifts for things like this. Or the bizarre timing of the upgrade is a result of the pre-sale.
Gotcha. I'm beginning to get a better idea what is happening. The pre-sale could be a method of getting the development people to work even harder than they were.
I'm sure we can forgive them for this major upgrade. More importantly, where's our friend the skunk? He's vanished, gone forever? I hope not.
Upgrade actually went fine. Took a little longer than expected but went fine. Forums are up behind that maintenance screen, indexes rebuilt and so forth. There are other non-technical issues at work. We'll open the forums to the public as soon as those issues get resolved.
We could start a new forum called "Bring-back-the-skunk.com" and force them into putting it back....LOL
Thanks for the update Wayne btw.. anyone else see we can change the URL? Code: http://brandon-has-the.best-forum-software.com/maintenance.html
working the skunk back will get my endorsement. He was a quiet yet smelly chappy but removed from our maintenance screen. why? who would rid us from skunk, possibly the most famous maintenance skunk on the planet. The mystery deepens.
Interesting! The little creature now removed is being cooked for lunch? More likely a team meeting as to how to react when people post certain things up ; )
Maybe cooking him up for the christmas bash? I suggest putting him in deep freeze to preserve the goodness wherever that may be. LOL
Does anyone else think the maintenance page is a sucky quality image? You can see messups all around the side and look where the skunk was it looks like it just rubbed out in 10secs..
