Because it was totally irrelevant and had nothing to do with the discussion. I've removed the one I'm quoting now as well.
Saying vBulletin China leaked it is purely ignorant. Your post wasn't made to contribute to this thread. It was made to stir things up, and that's just what you did. Shall we drop it and resume the discussion? Thanks.
I think the bigger question is how they got it down so fast. Could this be a syndrome known as "puppet effect syndrome"? We pull our customers strings and watch perhaps. The story continues, never a dull moment.
This is not even a question, its simple: there always was and always will be someone out there that will leak vB or IPB or any other software ! Every vB version ever made was "leaked" and released into the internet for free in a matter of hours since official release ! Every IPB version ever made had the same fate ! Beta will be also leaked, RC will be also leaked and so on!
I will say again that those who disregard an NDA - a legal document but also one of trust - are deplorable. This sort of thing just makes it less likely that the company will involve people in alpha testing again. Although I wasn't an alpha tester myself, I wouldn't want to see it back to being closed again (as all previous alphas have been).
Well, who needs a live site when the entire package is out... I dont see any ways IB is going to knock the tons of sites coming out on Chinese servers...using VB4. It was so stupid not to incorporate any piracy protection / licensing on the alpha version... And for once, I'd like to confess tht I;m not half impressed, even if its an alpha. I dont see it transform to anything half of what we expect of VB4. A new version , I beg to differ sir !! More like 3.8.5 for me... Chang PS. I dont know if the link I posted was under your TOS. But wht the heck..
Ohh, just my two cents... but I was thinking what if someone edits the codes , remove the copyright, claim it as acustom forumsoftware and runs on his site on an Chinese server. What is the best course of action for IB ? Just curious....and waiting for the tsunami of pirated VBs....
I recall Jelsoft not wanting to make this series open to alpha testing. So this whole stunt is a bit sketchy to me.
Not quite...they always wanted to have a team of alpha testers from the general customer base. They didn't want a public beta, but that decision now seems to have been reversed. One can only assume that "customer power" has brought about this change.
I have visited a few of the sites that are being hosted out of china to see what things are looking like.
You know what else makes me disappointed about this whole thing? As well as the usual fact these were leaked, the fact not one site using it even bothered to try the CMS. Was that aspect not available in the alpha versions or something? All seem to say there's no content in this section, which is silly, especially as everyone wants to know what the CMS will look like.
