Looks very good! I remember having some photoshop plugin years ago which would create planets for you automatically which you could adjust to your liking, good to see someone making them manually, must have took ages
The red bit around the planet could either be intended atmosphere, or it could be an accidental shifted mask.
I think it might be intended atmosphere, come to think of it. Remember this is a dimensional scene. The planet is up close while the other objects are far off. I like it.
Technically it is rendered, since i created it in a second window, then moved it into my scene, but i meant that i did not take someone's work, and modify it
You can see more if i decide to put a graphics section @ Gaming Cube :: PC, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Nintendo
I personally think it looks good. At the resolution posted, there are really no flaws until you break out the magnifying glass and start looking for them. The red around the planet is simply atmosphere as far as I am concerned. If you look at pictures of Earth from space, it has a similar blue band where you can see the air. It is even hazy and not a perfect circle as currents move things about.
To answer everyone's questions, yes that is an intended atmosphere, i did mess up a little bit with my "Atmosphere" and if you look it is not consistent around the planet. Btw, thanks for every one's input, its helpful
