AA, just like a ton of other forums on the 'net, probably gets their fair share of spam accounts that may not make it past their security measures, or possibly just an influx of members who register to get rid of the visitors message or view something for members only. I trust Chris and the team enough. They wouldn't even attempt such a low-life move.
You'd be correct, Mikey. We are not using such a modification and I resent the fact that you'd suggest that we are, Ak Worm. That was simply out of line.
Well, I have noticed some discrepancy in online/offline users - for example: you and Chris both show up offline in posts (ie. your little person icon at the bottom of posts is gray, when I know for a fact you are indeed online by viewing the online list.)
I just happened to notice this as well. I have no idea what is causing this. I think this happened a while back, but somehow corrected itself. It's obviously happening again, and I don't know why. We haven't changed a thing.
For those who have access to that particular forum (the super top-secret one), they have the ability to make a post anonymously. It's simply a "mask" that allows members here to post content without making their identity visible to the public. The ability to do so is only present in that one forum.
Maybe it's because there's a time out? You know, it's people online from the last fifteen minutes, not this exact minute in time.
It's a really weird problem. In Who's Online, Chris appears online. In his posts, the online indicator is OFF, implying that he is offline. On his profile, it says he is offline, and that his last visit was yesterday at 9:20 PM. That's obviously not true, because he is online right now and has even been posting this morning.
Hmm... Can we get Nick to try logging out and see if he gets the same error? Because I just logged out and I didn't get it?
Becareful of using the vBulletin tool to repair database tables (especially on large ones). Try to always use the command line (SSH) to repair them as if you get a time out, or your connection at home dies, it'll be a massive headache to fix. and I mean massive!
