What is the worst downtime you have experienced on your forums? Did it have much of an affect on activity?

Our teen forum went down for 22 hours at one point with our old host, they did give us 6 months free hosting in return but still 22 hours is a joke. Some members thought it had gone forever :D

24 hours downtime. Still have no idea what caused it... host will not talk about it.

The worst downtime I've had lasted an hour (or a little bit over). It was due to a network upgrade and not an actual technical or hardware-related issue. :)

I had a couple of times when my site/forum was down for around a day when I was with Cirtex hosting a couple of years ago. Went down lots. Obviously I didn't stay with them for long :p

My worst downtime? Forum was on and off for two days because the idiots @ Hivelocity thought a senderbase reputation was enough to nullroute an ip address by itself. Talk about a nightmare. No RBL listings, no abuse listings, just Hivelocity suspending an IP because of garbage thrown out with no backing proof @ all, uggh.

I can't say that I'm surprised. Do you still have a machine within their network?

Yeah, this was just a couple months ago. I'm still looking for other alternatives ATM. Right now I'm kinda stuck with 'em.

I admin my own server. Any downtime is my bad one way or the other.

I've had a bump here and there but for the most part since I started running forums it's been 6 years of uptime with a couple hours down at most per year when upgrading to new servers.

My main forum was down for about 3 - 4 weeks in March - April, 2007.

I decided to give up on the direction the old site was going, shut it down, switched to vbulletin, redesigned everything, and worked out a new promotion strategy.

How did it affect the site? The site was restarted with 0 post, all of the pages has to be rebuilt from scratch. All of the old members quickly rejoined and started posting again.
