Odd Mod

Hmmm... I was just checking our old moderators IP address and when he was a moderator we were constantly being spammed, this never happened as bad as this before he became a mod. A search of his IP brought up one of the accounts that were spamming us, a dead on match. Some people are really really odd. Why on earth would a moderator spam the site they mod? It makes you think youre glad to be rid of

 

Out of spite usually. Some mods just do it for the power and don't really care about the forums that much.

 

Maybe that's why he wanted to be a mod; to get all his spam through.

 

Thats the thing, he wasnt spamming links or anything just being a troll.

 

That's bad enough in my opinion

 

I Use Multiple Account Detection & Prevention, Ban Evasion Filter. They Come In Handy. I HATE People With Two Accounts.

 

I just dont understand how one can think yeah I am a moderator now I shall spam the site I became a mod on and constantly post irritating content. Why? lol

 

My guess: He gets pissed off at other users but has to keep his composure on his staff account. He decides to make a new identity to say what he is really thinking?

Thats the thing, the content of his posts were things like this:

will da staff show ppl our ips liak will dey show people so dey cann ddos like in a thread dey show ip im scared michael or kerry hate me

We dont share them and he already knew that and also he knew we never hated him too, heck we had just made him a moderator

 

Maybe he uses a computer at an internet cafe? Or it is someone else in his shared apartment complex? Might pay to ask him and see if he has a good excuse.

O.S. Tell him to go back to school and learn how to spell. That is one of my biggest pet peeves to see people type like that, it is very irritating.

i have known a few people who do that, they know they are supposed to have a reputation as being a good person who obeys all the rules and has to remain professional. they dont want to ruin this reputation, or lose their mod position, so they create a second account to say everything theyve always wanted to say to people, without people knowing their true identity.

 

Yeah it seems so, he actually come back again under a new IP and alias and done exactly the same thing with other made up accounts trying to make himself look good to others and the staff by reporting his own trolling.

I used to know an owner of a forum that would do the same thing, then expect the mods to clean up the mess. 2nd account for arguing with people. :doh:

 

Or it could be job security. If my site doesn't require x amount of mods, I will lower it. If I start needing mods again the ones I put back to member are the first pick. I used to run a forum. We had several months when there were a ton of posts going on, I added about 5 more mods to the team (bringing the total to 8). As we started dieing down the least perfroming mods were demoted again. One caught wind of this (he was to be the 4th demoted) and started SPAMing like crazy, it lasted for about 3 days before I caught on with what was going on. I sent him a message to stop, he ignored it and kept going. I ended up perma banning his IP and I have yet to see anyone with the same posting style as him come back.
