What type is your homepage? Is it a CMS, Blog, HTML powered or anything else?

I personally use HTML with PHP, for example the sidebars (both sides), Navbar, Footer are all PHP so i can easily change them and it would change it throughout the site..
But the template came as HTML..

I personally think Wordpress is an extremely cool and simply CMS instead of a blog..

I personally dont like forums with a homepage, I would rather guests and members get the content they want almost instantly instead of hit something that may not be entirely of interest. Vbadvanced I cannot stand especially having to look for a forum link. If youre a forum I think you should have that as the home. Maybe have a blog somewhere but I wouldnt use it as a homepage. If we were to have one then Wordpress would the first choice.

I don't generally have homepages for my forums, I find it to be too much work to keep blogs going.

Mine is just a simple custom vBulletin powered page.

» Pulls the latest two article snippets & accompanying images from WP.

» List of Last 5 created threads (excluding threads from the General category and BST).

» List of 5 Popular Threads. (explicitly set. haven't changed the setting for months.)

I don't know how well I represent the average forum user, but I personally prefer portal pages, especially when they have the latest threads on the main page.

A short intro for possible members is also nice (I make mine too long and need to change that).

I use vBA's CMPS with pride.

vBadvanced CMPS and I work at keeping it fresh. Nothing but navigation, stats and advertising placements stays in the same place or has the same content for longer than 2 weeks.

It depends. If the site is just a forum, then there is no home page, only one forum I do have any sort of homepage. If I have articles then Vivvo runs the articles, with the forum in a sub directory.

I do not care for stuff like vbadvanced.
