It seems pretty nice :) Its true that most of the experts start at a young age. I guess justin is one of them.

I'm having my first experience with MyBB over on the Nutella Forum and so far I'm pretty pleased. Thanks for all the work you and the other members of the team do, Justin.

Its a good interview, but its not "great." Personally, I would like to have seen more professional questions. Such as how long he had been coding for, what kind of classes, training, and education he has.

When using software, I dont really care what the coder had for breakfast. What I do care about, is the level of experience, training and qualifications.

Does Justin have a grasp on current security trends, is he a member of any honey pot projects, does he use linux, windows or mac as his primary operating system. What kind of server operating system does justin recommend and why? How much experience does he have in windows server, linux, unix, sun micro systems,,,,,.

Interviews like that are "supposed" to be about the developer, what he/she is bringing to the table and what qualifies them to lead. Not what their hobbies are or what they ate for breakfast.

Its nothing towards Justin, its more towards the person doing the interview. If your gonna ask some questions, then step up and ask some real questions.

^^;; Well, those are question the users wanted to ask.

MyBB made a thread in which users get to ask questions to the Staff members, and the users asked those kind of question, so it's not the interviewers fault the users chose to know such silly questions.

That being said, xD that was awesome.

Just because you like roller coasters does not qualify you to lead the development of secure or stable software.

Dude, chill out, okay? It was questions asked for the users, things users wanted to know.

If you want a more serious interview you can ask AA to conduct one, but on MyBB if you wanted to know what qualified him to develop such software, could have asked. MyBB users wanted to know what he had for breakfast.

One would hope that someone planning to design roller coasters was very interested in engineering everything he built to be secure and stable. Besides, it looks like the guy mostly works on the wiki and design, not the back-end code.

    Hey, that's me! :D

I'm the lead designer, not the lead developer. I have nothing to do with security or stability, just the layouts you see. :)

Some of those questions were really odd, but as FMB pointed out, quite a few of them were asked by the users. Also, a general note about these interviews (this is one of many): they are intended to be more "get to know," hence the lighthearted nature of the questions.

    As above...

Windows, though I'd love to have a Mac. :)

Not much, but again, see above.

Correct, I do not work with the back-end code. I work with the user interface (though, as I believe I've said before, I did not create the current 1.x theme). Most of my work as designer thus far has been with the MyBB 1.4 Admin CP; I created quite a few mock-ups of ACP pages.

That's amazing! And then when I read that he joined the team in April of 2006... WOW! He must have been in what, Junior High?

Magnificent interview, too bad I wasn't keeping track of new posts and such at the Net, I would have added some questions...

Yeah, I'm thinking he was in 8th grade. If all the adults started that young doing something they had a passion for, this world would be a different place, I declare.

Chill out for what? That I do not agree with "its a great interview?" My opinion differs from yours, so its "dont freak out." Its called "respect." Regardless of what you think, everyone has their own opinion, even if its different from yours.

Thank you Justin, that answers a lot of my questions.

I started at MyBB in my Sophomore Year, when I was about 15 or so.

MyBB has always been full of young up-and-coming enthusiasts.
