Emergency Status Center?

Howdy all,

Do any of you have an emergency status page of some sort remotely hosted on a different server in case your server goes down for a long peroid? I am going to be opening a blogspot blog for emergency updates and wondering if anyone else does it?

 

I currently have an emergency page - it is set up by my hosts on a completely different server - and all I do is contact them and tell them somethings up and they activate my emergency page!

 

This is something that I'll be creating in the near future. I'll be utilizing Tumblr, seeing as I've always wanted to use their service - this is the perfect excuse for doing so.

 

I have my forum on a vps ( I manage it ..)and blog on other shared hosting from HostGator (baby plan)
well hostgator will have almost 100 % uptime..
you can host subdomain on different servers

 

I have a youtube channel that I can post updates on. A lot of my members found my forum through youtube, and they watch a lot of my videos. So that would be the first place they would look.

One of my members even asked that if the forum goes down that I post a youtube video to let everyone know what is going on.

 

One of the members created a FaceBook page for the forum, I'm sure people will go check that if there's ever excessive downtime.

 

We have a yahoo group, and have encouraged members to subscribe to it with email notification. If the forum should go down a post there will email the subscribed members. The only posts are forum status updates when the status changes, so they won't think of it as spam.

We promote signing up for this yahoo group before all scheduled downtimes, and that should help cover in case of something unexpected. And some of the members know each other and pass things on through the grapevine.
