From your official launch date, how long did it take you to get your 100th member?

And if it was what you would consider quick, did you have any particular promotion method?

It seemed like forever for me to get my 100th member, probably 3 months. My 200th member is taking about the same amount of time...I've been running promotions during both. But I've got some pretty fierce competition in my opinion.

When my website first launched it took us about 2 weeks to get to 100 members and 2000 posts etc - however we were hacked BIG TIME recently and had to rebuild from scratch and am now finding it harder to get the ball rolling ago since we relaunched half-way through last month and reached 28 members and happen to be sitting there.

When we opened the first time we ran a promotion or 50% discounts through my sponsors merchandise if they registered and got a small coupon code.

I opened vBCodex for posting in early June and I currently have 173 members. Of those, 4 have not verified their emails and 2 have been banned. The only promotion I have done is posting on this site, including a link to the site on 4 other websites, and feeding a subset of the RSS to twitter automatically. The rest came on my reputation with the subject matter and the content I have provided thus far.

My goal isn't to have the largest vBulletin resource site out there. I am not competing with sites like vBulletin.org. My goal is to have the best aftermarket vBulletin content and resources out there.

Took about 4 hours after the site went live. 200 was after 2 days. Things slowed quite a bit after that, 500 came up a month and half later and now at almost 3 months old there are just over 750 members.

I did a lot of marketing at a national event for the subject and opened the site the day after the event was over. Growth has been steady and most importantly, manageable. I expect once fall hits and people are inside more I'll see another growth spurt.

I can't personally remember really, although it seems like it took a couple of months until 100 members. Thankfully, forum registration rates kinda sped up since then.

I don't really keep track of such things, but I'd say along the order of several months.

On Shiny Lapras's Lake, it took almost a year. Forums on free web-based services nearly always grow slowly.

How did that many people find your site in one day's time? That's awesome.

It took tilersforums.co.uk a month or so to get 100 members, it's taking some of our others much longer though I must say. Tut.
