YES FINALLY!!! Now hopefully they make a great push at a super strong number two in the search market and bring some more balance to the SE field!! Microsoft, Yahoo team up to ding Google with Bing - Yahoo! News

    We shall see......

I think this should be a nice challenge for Google, as they appear to have been pretty padded in their number one spot. I didn't even know that people still used Yahoo! search. :P

And like that Microsoft moves from 8.4% of all worldwide searches to about 30% of all worldwide searches. Google is still ahead at about 60% but their lead was already falling from its estimated high of 80% so we'll see what happens.

Numbers in the articles are off compared to June Results.

I don't think I'm ever going to say "I'll Bing it" Bing doesn't have the same ring as Google.

As per this 10 year deal, search on Yahoo's websites will be generated by Microsoft's Bing search engine and MS's adcentre will also replace Yahoo's Panama.

I guess the deal should work really well as Yahoo has a relatively good audience while MS has a better product in Bing!

If one plus one indeed adds up to two, together they would hold roughly 30% of the US search market, still lagging way behind google's share of 78%!
Looks like... even though it is small but it surely is an important first step! :)

I wonder how Yahoo company culture will deal with the anti-microsoft sentiments that must still exist there.
