So I'am out on location filming a video, and the stupid battery goes goes dead in the camera. The bad news, it a 45 - 60 minutes drive one way, and another 15 minutes of walking to get to the location. So your talking a total round trip of about 2 1/2 hours. Its too late to charge the battery and make the drive back out to the location today. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow. I had just charged that battery 2 days ago and had only used it a few times. There was still 15 - 20 minutes worth of free room on the memory card. So I'am gonna have to charge it tonight, and make the drive back out there.
Lol I had the same thing happen to me - not with a video camera but my digital slr camera, I loaded the car heading to my mother in laws for some birthday (it almost seems like every week there is another reason to be there) and so after loading up the car, packing up my camera, the two memory cards and making sure I took the rechargable batteries off charge and place them in the camera. We head to the birthday and I break the camera out to take photos and the batteries are not working... after mucking around with them for a while it is determined they are dead so when I get home (about to throw $30 rechargable batteries out the window) I realise that I didn't have the charger turned on. Lol Morale of the story always have replacement batteries
Did you forget that my videos are used for promotion? These are not "my cute kids" videos, these are "visit my site" types of videos.
That makes it even worse that the battery went dead... were the kids with you when you travelled all the way there to do the video only for the battery to die?
We had been out there for several hours - we had gone fishing, took a bunch of pictures and, filmed videos. My kids and I were getting ready to go home. So I wanted to do a short review of my daypack. And that is when the battery went dead. I had the perfect location, perfect backdrop and the freaking battery goes dead on the last video. Here is a picture of where we were at. There is not a house within 2 - 3 miles from where this picture was taken.
Yes, I do realize this but this particular thread doesn't discuss the use of your videos for promotion. It is merely a discussion about the fact that your battery died.
Man that sucks, I've personally never had it happen whenever I go out on nature hikes for pictures, I have 5 batteries for my Canon 50D and my Kodak Zi6 takes double-A's so I always have a few of them as well!
