When vB came out with the user albums feature I allowed each member three albums, and now I'm finding the forum is taking up more than double the disk space it previously did. It's a bit alarming, and I'm thinking of cutting it down for regular members. How many albums/images do you think is a reasonable number for your members?

As many as they need. I want to encourage participation, not sifle it.

I have some arbitary limit set, if anyone gets near it I'll increase it.

I only allow premium (paying) members to use it, then it is unlimited. That was much of my impetus to go to 3.8.3 from 3.7.x. the 'latest albums' feature.

I've had 1 member join because of that. I hope it will increase.

    unlimited in my forums.
i can easily find out if someone is abusing it. and if not, i dont see any reason to cut it down.
lack of space? ask your hoster for an other harddisk? at least thats the way i would do it.

This is one of those features that I consider "set it at all or nothing". In other words, if I'm going to give this to my users, I'm going to give them as much as they want. I'm not going to limit their album space or anything.

I'm the same way about attachments -- I don't have size, space, or quantity limits (other than those of my server, of course. But when needed, I will gladly increase the storage space so my users can continue to enjoy a simple browsing/user experience ;))
