I'd like to hear how many staff members you guys have in comparison to how many members you have and your general volume of activity. I just want to see what is working for you guys, and get an idea of what an ideal range would be.
1 Support Leader and myself and my girlfriend are the admins, we are looking for mods just waiting for the right one We can handle all spam and problems ourselves for now.
i'm trying to keep my premium-user group below 50% of the active member amount. new staff members can only be recruited from that special group and with 2 Admins and 4 Mods in a Forum with 100.000 Posts, you probably do nothing wrong.
I think my main forum has about 10 staff and moderators. That is 2 separate groups, staff and moderators - each one serves a different roll. Must of my members are pretty quick on the report post button, so the forum stays clean.
I have 4 other staff, with membership of nearly 3000 and 100,000+ posts. Might be a little excessive but we want the place super clean.
On the forum I sold, we had 1,000 members with 300 + active. Staff was myself and a co-admin, and 5 super mods. I don't use regular mods.
CF - 4 Admins, 8 mods, 3 senior mods. Approx 900 members login per day. VBO - 3 Admins, 4 mods, 2 senior mods, 2 advisors, 1 co-ordinator. About 2,800 members login each day.
2 admins and 14 super mods (we don't have regular mods). We have around 5500 to 6000 unique members visit a day.
Yes, it is 12. Have you ever considered promoting a few of those moderators to super moderator-level positions?
All our staff are at least supermods as far as vb itself is concerned, I firmly believe that any staff member should be able to deal with a problem anywhere on the site, not be restricted.
I totally agree with that! On my site, our mods have specific forums that they look out for, but if someone needs help in another forum, they are able and willing to do so.
I totally agree as well, and that's the setup I have on my forum. A moderator is ineffective if they are the only one online but encounter an issue in a forum which they don't have reign over.
I only have me and one further admin, I am normally on my website during the day and the other admin has sleep deprevation or something and is normally on my website during the night while I sleep. My fellow Admin - I completly adore, I have never met her in person, but have been on a number of websites she has been on as members or moderator - she has been part of my site during the whole build up of my website and since day dot has been there supporting me and my website and makes monthly donations of at least $50 and I am sure that if my website really picks up and stuff I will reward her somehow.
