Is your activity seasonal?

Does your activity fluctuate at different times of the year? Is it dead at one point, but flourishing at another?

How does it work out like this? I've never really been a part of a forum that is fairly dead at a certain time of the year, so I'm curious to know how it works out (or doesn't).

I do have a Christmas-themed forum (did it mostly because I had some beautiful artwork that would have been a shame to waste) :) I don't expect it to ever get much traffic because it's hard to get it to snowball if no one's searching for it 9 months out of 12.

My slowest times of the year are holidays. And especially the opening day of deer season - that is a really dead day.

Yes it is seasonal. But since we have people all over the world there is never really true off season. It is now June and it is winter in the southern hemisphere now.

And there are the folks in southern California where it is too hot in the summer, but ok in the winter for outside activities.

June through August has always been slow for all the boards I frequent, but this June those same boards are practically empty. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, when I saw this thread.

Yes there has been a significant dip in traffic on many forums. Newer more friendly forums seem to be drawing people from the larger less friendly forums.

I'm not so sure it isn't a result of Twitter. I have no proof though, it's just a theory.

I am comparing my traffic on my forum (that did not exist a year ago) to another site that hosted similar content. We now get 2x the traffic of the older site, and they went down 50%.

    For example:
I will assume AA gets traffic from other sites and the AA staff is keeping track of both AA & the other sites traffic.

We seem to get more traffic now the schools are slowly closing for the summer holidays and people are leaving school too, the worst times is when it is nice and hot outside :)

I think it can safely be attributed to that. When it's warm, there's festivals, concerts, and lot's of outdoor stuff to do, especially when you're young, and all your friends want to hang out. You've got all the time in the world, you're not going to want that time wasted sitting inside on a forum. :)

Its good to know not everyone loves to heat though :D We do get a few online during the hottest of days but nowhere near as many as when it is cold or raining.

Haha!!! To tell you the truth, I'm one of the ones that would be inside during our hottest days. In fact, it was 90F up here yesterday, I believe. And I was busy working on a few things online.

I was anticipating October through March being a slow time for me this past year (no baseball) but was pleasantly surprised at the activity I had.

The weird thing is, if we're having beautiful weather, I can be assured that traffic on my sites will be way down... but I get visitors from all over! Surely it must be raining somewhere?
