I'm sure many of you have seen this:
    vBulletin Installation Video

While it would take a bit of work I think basic well done videos would add much good content to AA. When people ask the basic questions on other sites you could post up a helpful link to AA. A lot of people do not understand the basics.

I am going to do this on my site, host the videos on my server like a really high resolution youtube but with my site name in the url.

Thing is I no nothing about video hosting.

    Input?

That was a superb video. With AA 2.0, video tutorials are definitely something I would love to start putting out and getting known for.

I actually just made a video tutorial in full HD on my Mac for fun. Again, I really like this idea. :)

Don't think they really need to be in HD. Standard resolutions should work well.

    Want to share?

It needs to be clear and good resolution, I don't think 16:9 is required but it looks cool and adds a certain something.

    Links?

Does anyone have any input on how to create a 'youtube like' sharing environment on a server? Or at least what search terms to use? I've been unsuccessful using 'video hosting' as a search term.

I didn't find the freewebs one, but that's the one I did for when Pisogaupdate was a wordpress blog. One of the people who were helping me did not know how to create a page.

For screen recording I use Camtasia - it's great and very easy to use. :)

You can see a video I created with it here: How to post a thread - LineolatedParakeet.net

It appears Captivate is another Adobe ($$$) program.

'TipCam' appears to be made by utipu.com. I don't understand the word Aero in that context.

That is a $300 program from what I can tell, do you download the trial version, make video captures, then delete till the next time you need it?

It is indeed $299 but I have it at my employer's expense, as I often use it for tutorials for colleagues and such for our work programs and software. Some of it is general Excel spreadsheet work but a lot of people don't have the proper training; I do my best to help them in the most minimal form.

Thank you for the clarification. I've been avoiding Vista like many other people

I edited my first post which started this thread to correct a spelling error (infornatioal vs informational). The thread title did not change, is that a vBSEO feature?

The editing of the thread title and the editing of the post are on separate timers. The former has expired while the latter is indefinite.

I fixed it for you though. :)

So if a normal member starts a thread, then goes back and edits the title of the first post, it does not change the title of the thread?

I just did that on vb.com and it seemed to change the thread title, but I edited that right away.

edited to add: you are correct! I waited a while, went back and changed the title of the first post, and the thread title did not change. I'm fairly sure that is a separate setting in the adminCP and that my people can edit thread titles for a long time.
