Do you think that once a forum is dead after being successful, that it will always be dead and it won't be possible (or very easy) to revive the community?

Or do you think that with time and effort, it can be successfully revived?

Sorry but at the moment I am on Pisoga and Pisoga Reloaded it's kind of pumped up. And that site WAS dead beyond comparison.

That should read - with the "right" time and effort, it will be revived.

There is no use in wasting your time on stuff that does not work. Focus on things that will promote your forum to a targeted audience.

    Any community can be revived.

You just have to do things that right way, and put in a lot of time and effort.

I have successfully revived one forum, but not having the same luck with some others. Have to keep working on them.

IF you're really dedicated towards your site, then yeah I do think it is possible. I think reviving old communities is always harder then just starting new ones, to be honest.

I feel that it's the equivalent.

    Basically, it is the same.

    Getting started, advertising, promoting.

Pretty much the same as starting from scratch, except you have the advantages of an aged domain and a heap of search engine fodder.

It may be hard to do it with the members you used to have. If I once had a good forum and it's now dead beyond belief, I would start from scratch if I ever wanted to bring it back.

Well, let's see... RCTgo was offline for four months last year, from February to June. No one could access the website at all. Now, I think we're probably more lively than ever. So yes, of cousre you can bring a forum back.

Ah, yes - I remember when this happened. Not fun.

    I remember that, too.

That situation is a little different. If a forum dies from drama or the members completely losing interest in what you have to offer, it may be a bit more of a challenge.
