If you think a lack of an active category editor is the reason for your submission dormancy, you can always apply to become an editor of that category and approve it yourself.
My site was listed many years ago. I never submitted it and I don't know who did. Does anyone even use it?
Actually, I tried that once... wrote up descriptions for a few sites they really should have listed, but my application was rejected. (Don't remember why, I gave up the idea.)
No, I don't. I doubt any real human actually uses it as a directory. It's more of a renowned high-ranking backlink than anything. But I don't think it has as much worth as it used to.
Have you tried submitting your site to DMOZ, FMB? You might get lucky and have an active, honest editor in your category.
sometimes they just don't need editors for the section; which sounds strange since there's such a huge backlog I noticed that there was one more forum added today and was hoping that it was mine, alas it was not
I've often wondered if Google is going to take the data from their SearchWiki and make a new DMOZ equivalent. Been thinking of asking people to vote my site up, just in case it ever happens.
Hmm, not a lot of anime related things, looks very uhh, 90-ish. Almost no English anime sites. Maybe when I re-do my whole site I'll submit.
Yep, that's about the size of it. It's worth trying to submit, but don't be terribly disappointed or surprised if you're completely ignored.
I don't know -- I was hoping that they'd already have one instead of piggybacking ODP, but can you imagine the backlog if google introduced that? it would be crazy haha
Make sure to browse the sections and see what type of descriptions are used. They like short concise basic descriptions.
this is true, you'd think they'd have a bit by now though; plus i'm sure they'd also want to be open rather than compiling the data themselves
